Westwood Pool

Facility
Swimmers of all ages enjoy Westwood's Olympic-sized pool, which includes a diving well and a child's wading pool. The main pool is heated in the Spring and Fall. The pool area provides both shaded and unshaded areas, to accommodate members who want varying amounts of sun exposure. The Westwood swim team, for boys and girls from ages 5 to 18, competes in the Dominion Country Club Swim League. The certified pool staff provides swim lessons during the season. Members enjoy a variety of club events and parties, as well as activities for the children, including raft nights, movie nights, and weekly penny dives. The pool snack bar offers menu items, drinks and treats for all tastes. Lockers are available in the pool house on a first come, first served basis. Locker keys are available at the registration desk if desired.

Services
Swim Lessons - Westwood's pool is managed by World Pool Service which offers group swim lessons on weekday mornings, prior to the pool opening. World Pool Service offers two-week sessions, with the first day being a screening day, followed by eight instructional days, and the final day as a rain make-up day, if needed, or a fun/safety day. Classes are Monday–Friday, 30 minutes a day. Each participant receives an individual evaluation at the end of the two-week session. Members may also sign up for private, individual lessons at the pool registration desk. Instructors call registrants to schedule lessons. Swim lessons are not given when it is raining. To check weather conditions at the pool and for information on swim lesson cost, call 703-938-9492.

Swim Team - The Westwood Whirlwinds swim team participates in weekly swim meets with other teams in the Dominion Country Club League, providing lots of chances for everyone to swim, race, improve times and meet new friends. Involvement with the team is fun for both the kids and the parents! Kids enhance their ability to swim and perhaps more importantly, learn about teamwork, striving for a goal, and being a good friend. Parents meet new people at the Club and support a healthy alternative to "watching TV all summer!" Swim team members may participate in great social activities, including Friday Spirit Events, Raft Nights, and the ever popular annual summer trip to Kings Dominion amusement park. Daily swim team practice is not mandatory, nor is the weekly swim meet. Kids progress at their own pace and most find they start to push themselves to beat their times. The Westwood swim team is about having fun in the water and a wonderful summer experience.
