DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
1. AUTHORITY
BYLAWS (APRIL 2011). ARTICLE V COMMITTEES, SECTION 10-DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE. The Disciplinary Committee shall consider complaints of conduct prejudicial to the welfare, interest and prestige of the Club and recommend to the Board appropriate disciplinary action.
2. RULES
The rules of conduct on which disciplinary actions shall be based include those set forth in the current Bylaws, the rules published in the latest Westwood Country Club Member Directory and Handbook and "daily rules" posted at the golf course, tennis pro-shop or swimming pool. In addition, Members, spouses, dependents and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with accepted standards of decorum for a private country club.
3. THE BUSINESS OF THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
The Disciplinary Committee shall be convened by the Disciplinary Committee Chairman to review complaints of rules infractions, to conduct any investigation it deems necessary, and to recommend appropriate disciplinary actions to the Board of Governors. At the Chairman's discretion, the Committee may conduct its business via telephone.
4. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
A. Most rules infractions will be brought to the attention of the offending Member, spouse, dependent, or guest by the professional staff in as courteous a manner as possible. It is anticipated that such verbal notice will cause the offender to comply with Club rules and policies. However, if the infraction recurs after a verbal warning, or if the infraction is considered by the professional staff or the Member who observes the infraction to be sufficiently serious to warrant review by the Disciplinary Committee, the particulars of the infraction(s) shall be reported to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
B. The Disciplinary Committee shall review the particulars of any alleged rules infraction brought to its attention. If the alleged infraction could result in the imposition of sanctions, such as the issuance of a warning letter or the suspension or termination of certain privileges of membership, the Disciplinary Committee shall inform the responsible Member of the alleged infraction and offer him or her the opportunity to submit a written statement of position or appear before the Committee and be heard. Recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee shall be reported to the Board of Governors for review and final action.
C. The Disciplinary Committee shall also notify the responsible Member of its recommendations. Said notice shall offer the responsible Member the opportunity to submit a written statement of position to the Board of Governors or to appear before the Board of Governors and be heard. Disciplinary actions shall be effective upon the majority vote of the Board of Governors.
5. RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of each Member, spouse, and dependent to know the Club rules of conduct. Westwood Country Club Members shall be responsible for the actions (or inactions) of their spouses, dependents, and guests.
